Buying Rugs in Houston? Consider a Persian Rug!

This is a quick blog to help rug shoppers learn a little bit more about rugs in Houston, especially those of the Persian variety.

Rugs come in different types. Not everybody knows that. Some people think a rug is just a rug, but they would be wrong.

Instead, it’s important to know that there are many types or rugs out there in the world today. Nations and cultures across the globe have produced varying types of rugs, carpets, and tapestries for a long span of human history; today the tradition lives on.

One of the best traditions, in terms of beauty, value, and culture, is Persian rugs. All rugs are beautiful, and some people prefer Persian rugs above all.

The industry related to Persian Rugs is world famous, and there are some of these rugs available in Houston right now: www.davidorientalrugs.com can help find you your own.

Persian rugs are generally made by hand. These Persian Carpets are famous because there are no machines that can make them quite the same way. They are made by a method that has been passed down in countries like Turkey for decades.

Persian carpets are different from other rugs. Of course, there is a reason why one might assert this: they’re designed in a specific way, in a certain place, by a unique group of people. The essence of these fine pieces would be lost if produced in any other matter.

Then again, we should not forget that another element keeps Persian Rugs in a category of their own – they are made from a special material as well!

All this talk about Persian rugs make it seems like they’d be difficult to find in the collections of rugs in Houston, but that isn’t so. All one needs to do to find rugs in Houston is visit www.davidorientalrugs.com

Difference between Oriental and Persian rugs

Oriental rugs in Houston are composed of rugs made all over Asia, including India, China, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and more. Persian rugs are specifically made in Persia or modern-day Iran. Just like Turkish rugs are made in Turkey. Persian rugs also have subtypes, just like Oriental rugs do. A Hamadan rug is a type of Persian rug. There are many types of Persian rugs, including Heriz, Karaja, Kazvin, and Isfahan. Historically Persian rugs were thought to be the best quality type of Oriental rug, specifically those from Isfahan and the Arak region of Iran. Now we can appreciate all of the different types of authentic Oriental rugs, each of which have their unique qualities.

Both Persian and Bagdad Oriental rugs are woven using either the Persian (Senneh) Knot or the Turkish (Ghiordes) knot. Wool, Silk, Goat hair, and cotton are all used in weaving hand-knotted rugs depending on where they are woven. For example, a rug woven in the Hamedan region of Iran may have a wool pile on a cotton foundation.

A rug woven in Afghanistan may have a wool pile woven on a wool foundation with goat hair used to secure the edges. A wide variety of designs are used in Persian rugs, including central medallions, all-over patterns, geometric tribal patterns, and prayer rugs. The design often depends on where the rug was woven in Persia or Iran. While there are many different designs in Persian rugs, many more designs are found when comparing all types of Oriental rugs. For example, a rug woven in China will have designs reflecting the culture of its weavers, which will not be the same as the culture of Persian weavers.
